Abstract

The study focused on the effects of strategic planning on organizational performance, using Exxonmobil Producing Unlimited AkwaIbom as the study organization. The study
broad objective evaluated the effect of strategic planning on organizational performance, by investigating various strategic planning processes and the implication of effective strategic planning on organizational competitiveness. The methodology
adopted was a descriptive research method of data collected through a questionnaire administered on a sample size of 60 respondents selected from a population of 260 employees of the study organization, the data was analyzed with Karl Pearson’s
coefficient of correlation computed with SPSS 22 version. The result showed a significant relationship between strategic planning and organization performance. Hence the study recommends that organizations should adopt inculcate all
strategic planning processes involving; proper formulation, implementation and control/review of the organization mission, vision, goals, objectives, environmental scan and channeling employee activities in totality to achieve competitiveness and
attain organizational performance.
